Hi there,
I recently reinstalled my Mac, but I forgot to backup and now I need a very important file that I deleted because I ereased the whole disk. Is there a way to get it back? I have no Time Machine backup, but it's really important.

Where do you buy decently priced and good quality screen protectors for your powerbook?? I don't want dirt on my screen!

I think I narrowed this down to the router.
Plugging the modem into the computer directly- it works! Friends can join my game without an issue.
Puzzling, to say the least.

I just received my iPad 2 and will be making a 2-week trip in May to an area with no TV - so I hope to copy some of my purchased DVD movies to SD cards to watch them on the iPad. I have the camera connection kit, so SD connection to iPad is no problem.
I've read several threads mentioning Handbrake and VLC, but have no idea what to do. Can someone please give me a step by step procedure on how to successfully copy these DVDs or refer me to a site which has the detailed instructions?
Info is greatly appreciated as this is a major reason I bought the new iPad now.
Thanks!

Right-click the installer, choose "Run as administrator" from the list.
Where do I find the installer?

The big problem (other than all the $$ this could have made him) is that he will likely find it very hard to ever get proper credit for the image in the eyes of the world, since the proverbial "horse has left the barn" syndrome, and since it has already been credited to other photographers and designers in other countries, who have sold it as if it were theirs. Chances are few photographers will ever experience one, or several of their images having this much commercial and mass appeal, and doubtful he will again, so not getting any recognition for his images must be a huge mixed blessing.
This video/film will certainly help, since that's how I learned of the story, but it will probably be very difficult for his name to ever be associated with the iconic images, except in fairly small, informed circles. Most famous pictures that are easily recognizable are generally associated with the photographer who made them -- in this case, that would take one hell of a major publicity campaign, since it's being treated like public domain work. At least this youtube video is a start...

I always remember it being available in the afternoon, right after the keynote. That's how it was with the iMac event and "The Beat Goes On".

My school's prom is in just a little under a month. I'm trying to get all the stuff ready for myself and the girl I'm going with. I'm actually going with another couple as four friends, but I'm buying both girls their corsages. The other girl is like a little sister to me, so it's just a nice gesture.
They both have dark blue/navy dresses. Oh! And they both have arm-length gloves. I was thinking about getting my girl a corsage with white roses (to contrast her black gloves and blue dress), and a white or red hibiscus for her hair. For the other girl I was going to have a corsage made with dark blue orchids and hyacinth (to contrast her white gloves and blue dress)
The main question is, will those flowers, white roses and blue orchids, go with a navy blue dress?
Also for the first girls hair, will it look too crazy if she has the black gloves, dark blue dress, white corsage and then a red hibiscus in her hair? Or will white look better? Red hibiscus is her favorite flower, that's why I wanted to get that.
For the other girl will a dark blue orchid look nice in her hair?
Last thing, my date's mother's favorite flower is roses. Is it classy to bring her a dozen, or does it seem like sucking up?
Additional Details
For the second girls white gloves, something like this: http://www.wedding-flowers-and-reception-ideas.com/images/blue-wrist-corsage-02.jpg
Although for the second girl I had something more like this in mind for her: http://www.weddingandpartynetwork.com/gallery/photos/1819
For my girl, I was thinking something like this arrangement: http://www.onlinefloristreviews.org/images/Products/Prom-08.jpg
But in white of course, to contrast the dark blue and black..
The last question that I have with this is the blue orchid corsage nicer than the rose corsage for my girl and will my girl be mad for getting the other girl a nicer corsage or are they about equal?
Oh I lied, last thing, it doesn't really matter but does anyone have any idea how much all this custom work will cost, and might I get a discount if I order them both at once?

I honestly think it is 8 per bus. On my 7100, i connected 5 devices and all of them were working.
Do you have the Mach 5 cpu (the 300mhz one)?
na it is the 250mhz one
The external and one of the internals are really the same bus, so you have the 8 device limit (taking into account that the SCSI controller itself counts as one.)
Also note that some versions of the Mac OS slap all busses together, making it limit artificially to only 8 devices, even though you should be able to 'double up'. I believe 8.0 and higher remove this.
does that mean as i use 9.0 i can have 7 devices per port on the logicboard?

Is there a way to check a USB port? The one on the front of my powermac g5 was working fine yesterday, but today won't recognize anything. The same devices plugged into the back port work fine. It appears to power the device plugged in, but it doesn't get recognized.
Plug your Apple USB mouse into it and see if it works.

Someone should make a program just for you? ;)
I would hardly say it's *just for me* The SETI@home FAQ says this:
Q: Is there an OS 9 client?
A: SETI@home can run on computers that have System 7.5.5 or higher installed. See the download page for the Classic Mac client for other system requirements: http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/mac.html.
However, the link is broken.

Oh damn! i wish i had a camera! I just, tonight moded my black pro mouse that came with my PM G4 MDD. I use the puck with my 12 PB, and thought, it looks cool, like all apple stuff, but maybe I can make it look cooler! I took it apart, spray painted the inside and bottom, both have yet another layer of clear outside of them, so it still looks professional, but now, it matches my powerbook!

Congrats !
Great too hear you are happy with your purchase.
I had a similar experience when I switched a couple of month ago.
The thing is: it just works.
Well - thats what it is made for. But I have used and still have to use PCs as well - and they often simply don't do what they are made for.
Againg congrats
Cheers

Haven't actually read any of the books, but Dreamweaver usually comes with a great set of tutorials. Try those, and if the learning curve still is too steep, go for the Dreamweaver Bible (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0764543504/qid=1123025870/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/104-4406894-0006331?v=glance&s=books), The Missing Manual (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0596006314/qid=1123025847/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/104-4406894-0006331) or similar. :)
