I find dell ultrasharps to be awesome, and at a decent price.
Seconded. I bought a U2311H last month on sale and am absolutely loving it. The IPS panel will be good for casual FCP and photo work.

What application do you use to render those frames? Is that application multi-core and multi-thread compatible?
I use Lightwave 9.6 and perhaps Lightwave 10 in the near future. I use Digital Performer 7 and allot of virtual instruments with high processing effects. I am also getting Final Cut X when it comes out in June. It's hard to know with cinibench what they are using to get the speed performance they are getting. I also heard a guy from Newtek tell me that the xx55 computers are much faster with radiosity in the 3D then the xx53 and xx54s from 2008 and 2009. I'm just so confused but so in need of a fast computer for my business.

What if I have the original SIM that came with the first gen iPhone still installed in the phone. Can I just re-activate that or do I still have to buy a new SIM?

You'll be throwing your money away if you do that.
Like everything on a Mac it's very simple and easy to do it yourself.

This ad is also affecting my experience on my iPhone. I'm using safari by the way. Only the ad in the above screenshot has an issue.

I'm not sure if there are regional restrictions, but have you tried Masters.com (http://www.masters.com/)? They have a ton of streaming coverage, if you can get it. Amen Corner and 15 & 16 have their own feeds, as well as 2 featured groups that they are following. Give it a shot and see if it is available for you.

Comex just tweeted this when asked about a possible jailbreak me 3.0:
"No, it will take some work to package it into a jailbreak. Same deal as i0n1c."

Hello Macrumors,
After a lot of debating here and there about what to buy, i have settled on the MBP 13" i5. I will be upgrading to 8 GB RAM, with a 60 GB SSD in the optibay later on, but first i need to set up my set up.:D
I really want to invest in an external monitor to set up at home, to hook the MBP up to. I want a Dell monitor, for they seem pretty good bang for buck. But i simply cant pick one. I would like anything from 18"-24", from the 120-240 USD price range, but heres the catch, i also really want a USB port, prefferably on the back, not sticking out from the side.
The monitor will be used for all the everyday stuff from time to time, but mainly for photoshop. Im only a student and this is all my money, so im not looking to get a super high quality, extremely high resolution monitor, that the pros use, just a nice little screen i can hook my MBP to. So if anybody has any experiences, preferences, or advice about monitors, please post.
Id also be getting the mStand, beautiful thing, along with great ergonomics, which means id be in need of an external keyboard and mouse. I was thinking magic trackpad? Is it any good for photoshop, otherwise i already have a wireless logitech mouse that i love, or a wired dell mouse, so i dont need the magic trackpad. And for keyboards, again, does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks for reading the long post, i know i type too much..:P
EDIT: i found this,
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=biz&cs=555&sku=p20113
and it says it has a minidisplay port. does that mean there are mindisplay port to minidisplay port cables? If so, are they and better than VGA? as in is the quality higher, or smoother, or thers no difference?

Here's a good little find for you all. My lady friend works for the state library system and she happened across these one day in her desk. She brought one home and I immediately knew what it was. Thought I would share, I am sure a few of you know what these are, but for those that don't. I'd love to see your guesses :D

I'll be getting off of work early to go to La Cantera and pick up Leopard on the 26th....
Do you think it's going to be packed? I know it wasn't really that packed when I bought an iPhone on the 29th.

I'd love to discover some apps that would be useful on set.
You should definitively consider using your iPhone as a phone, it has been a wonderful tool to help me keeping up with development and production on different projects. I use Skype a lot for international calls and email is a must have. Seems like a lot of people in the industry use an iPhone which makes sharing documents/calendars/contacts/etc... a lot easier ! :D

Find a ton of front screen protectors. I just want a good cheap clear skin for the back only. Been rocking a Speck case pretty much from day 1 but really love the form factor of the iPod touch 4. Shame to keep the beauty of the design hidden.
Any good cheap choices for just the back?

Hi, Im a collage student who is taking the plunge and buying a mac in the summer when i get the money. By then i will already own an iPad 2 so the portability doesn't really bother me. But was looking for a good computer to have for things that aren't that great on the iPad (i.e. essay writing). I don't own any other the things expected to be with a mac mini (keyboard, mouse).
Anybody owned both and have a preference or can recommend either a mac mini or macbook. :):)

The Mac should detect the HDMI device as an HDTV, and offer you resolutions of 720p, 1080i, and/or 1080p. If you select one of the specific "HD" resolutions, and not random other resolutions (even the seemingly identical 1280x720 and 1920x1080!) it should work.
Also, make sure your refresh rate is 60 or 30 Hz.
Indeed it does! The issue seemed to be that at somepoint the machinations we had put the signal through had made it "dumb," i.e. the Mac didn't recognize it's BlackMagic Intensity Pro as as "broadcast" resolution device. However I am now stuck at the next phase, getting Blackmagic Intensity Pro into SKYPE.
However, I can confirm now that WireCast (the software we are using for the output from the PC) does recognize the connection and says "BMD HDMI".
The video comes into Blackmagic Media Express... (1080i 60)
HOWEVER -- I still cannot get it to show up in e2eSoft VCam or Skype (under the "Decklink" option) for both.
Do you know why it is being so picky?

I just recently dove into all my design work from my classes and there is a pretty massive pile sitting on my floor right now.
I'm curious as to what things graphic designers hang onto and what they toss. Do you keep your thumbs and roughs? Or just finals? And for sorting them do you do it by project type?
Any tips on staying organized either with digital file or physical files are welcome.

Most of the issues will have to do with how your work internet services are set-up. Check you have the correct proxy server settings in your 'Network' preference pane in the 'Proxies' tab. Make all your new settings apply to the correct port (ethernet) and that other ports aren't using the same settings.
If all is still not well:
If you are connected to a http proxy, and it's a Windows proxy, avoid it. If it's possible to get your IT admin to set your IP address as a proxy server you should be able to surf no problems. ie you should be using your work's DNS directly.
We can't get the Windows http proxy to work with our Macs, or very sporadically. This is our workaround.
If you still have no luck try http://macwindows.com/ it's an excellent Mac/Windows resource.
